Artist Support.

Here are our Do's and Don'ts for self publishing of YOUR work.
Our recommendations on digital distribution services.

We begin with the number one DON'T!

Do NOT go NEAR Reverbnation.
First off their entire "service" (to use the loosest of terms) is based around THEM making money from artists who sign up.
It has become obvious to us from various reports that even their internal "chart" is based only on how much the artist in question utilises their services. Nothing whatsoever to do with any audience interaction...!!
And even MORE vitally, we have evidence of them withholding royalties earned and cutting off contact with the artists/bands involved.
We emailed them with regards to this subject and they did not reply.
They have the right to remain silent.
And that in itself speaks volumes...!

And now vitally we move onto our TOP three distributors.

1. The Orchard
2. TuneCore
3. Distrokid

1. The Orchard

The Orchard are long established, since the beginnings of digital distribution really.
And infact are now owned by the mammoth corporation Sony BMG.
They have by FAR the most kudos and respect in the industry.
But. And there is one.
You CANNOT distribute via Orchard as simply a band or artist. You have to sign up as a Record Label.
Which in some ways is a good thing because your releases WILL have your label name automatically and without charge. There maybe stipulations on the question as to how many bands/artists you HAVE on your label.
Also due to their power (and with power comes.. costs), they take 20% off the top of your download/streaming income.
You can also release videos "officially" via Orchard and therefore make streaming royalties from them.

2. TuneCore

EXCELLENT up and comers.
Fast turnaround on your releases, quick and simple console, good customer service.
And now, for $9.99 annually (for the basic package) you can release unlimited singles/albums. (US price.)
They charge ZERO percent on your royalties too...!!!

3. Distrokid

VERY similar to TuneCore in everything mentioned above. Infact they led the way on the price (or indeed lack of).
Almost equally excellent. We prefer TuneCore purely on reports of more responsive customer service.

Finally we five a shout out to Ditto music.
They are the only other service worth considering at the moment.
We aren't putting links here to any of the above however we are confident that you know how to "Google".

Of course in ALL instances it's down to YOU to market yourself.

Now. Go out there, be confident, and get FAMOUS! 🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶
